Margaret Atwood tries to burn ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’

In an echo of nazi Germany, Canadian author and polymath, Margaret Atwood, has taken to trying to destroy a unique unburnable copy of her smash hit and multi award winning ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’, with a full-size flamethrower, as a high profile protest against the increased banning of books in US schools.

According to the American Library Association, The Handmaid’s Tale is among books most often challenged or banned in US schools.

The fireproof book itself is to be auctioned off to raise money ahead of an expected ruling reversing the right to abortion, to be handed down by a US supreme court.
